We're on a mission to revolutionize breast imaging.
QTbreasthealth brings to market an evolution in breast imaging. Our imaging centers offer the new FDA-cleared QTscan, which provides exceptional breast imaging clarity and quality with no harmful radiation and no painful compression. It’s safe, easy, and part of a unique patient-centric experience that includes comfort, compassion, and confidence in the results.
Each year, approximately 39 million women, in the United States, get mammograms. For every 1 woman with cancer, 19 more will be told they might have cancer when they don’t. The cost, time, and psychological distress take an enormous toll. QT Ultrasound exists to change the paradigm of breast imaging and to keep women from going through the trauma of this journey.

QTbreasthealth expands to San JoseRead the press release
San Jose, CA – Feb. 28, 2019 – QTbreasthealth, an innovation-driven, patient-friendly breast imaging center designed to provide women with reliable, radiation-free imaging, has opened a new center in San Jose. The new location, at 2512 Samaritan Court, Suite K, is now open and booking appointments.
Due to popular demand for its groundbreaking quantitative transmission ultrasound technology known as the QTscan™, QTbreasthealth is in steady growth mode. The San Jose location is the fourth center to open in only seven months. Other locations include Walnut Creek and Novato, California and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Additional locations are planned to open around the country throughout 2019.
As with all QTbreasthealth centers, the San Jose location features the new FDA-cleared, radiation-free, 3D ultrasound breast imaging technology that requires no compression and no injections.
Ongoing clinical trials and published research have found the QTscan to be successful in identifying various types of breast tissue, particularly within dense breasts. Because QTscan technology provides unimpeded visibility for women with dense breast tissue, it is a logical next step for women who have had a mammogram, but have been notified that they have dense breasts. More than 50% of women between 40 and 50 have dense breasts, which have less fat and more connective, fibrous and glandular tissue compared to lower-density breast tissue. Because of higher concentration of glandular tissue, women with dense breasts have higher rates of breast cancer.
QTbreasthealth’s goal is to provide technology that enables women to get scanned as often as necessary, with no risk. San Jose was selected as the new location largely due to the region being labeled an “area of concern” by the California Breast Cancer Mapping Project due to significantly higher rates of breast cancer than the majority of the state.
“The QTscan has the clarity to see what other methods can miss, and our centers provide a comfortable, compassionate setting when women need it the most,” said Dotty Bollinger, QTbreasthealth’s Chief Growth Officer. “We’re excited to bring this game-changing technology to the people of San Jose, providing next-generation breast imaging to more women than ever.”
QTbreasthealth offers a spa-like breast imaging experience, complete with soothing scents, comforting robes, and a relaxing imaging scan that some women actually sleep through. Because the QTscan uses no radiation, the exam is available to women of all ages and avoids the frequency limits associated with radiation-based imaging tests. The clear and comprehensive, 3D image delivered by the QTscan makes QTbreasthealth an ideal second opinion for breast imaging, providing a more detailed image than mammography or handheld ultrasound.
Women interested in scheduling an appointment can do so conveniently online at QTbreathealth.com or by calling (408) 217-1352.
With three locations in California and one in Michigan, QTbreasthealth, a wholly-owned subsidiary of QT Ultrasound®, is a breast imaging center offering reassurance without radiation. The center’s FDA-cleared QTscan™ provides clarity into existing areas of concern previously identified, in a comfortable and soothing setting, with no radiation compression or injections. The QT Ultrasound Breast Scanner is for use as an ultrasonic imaging system to provide reflection-mode and transmission-mode images of a patient’s breast. The device is not intended to be used as a replacement for screening mammography.

Breast Imaging Center to Open in Novato with Radiation-free QTscanRead the press release
NOVATO, Calif. – August 13, 2018 – QTbreasthealth, a breast imaging center designed to give women a comfortable experience and radiation-free imaging, will open its doors to the public on Monday, August 20 at 3 Hamilton Landing, Suite 180A in Novato.
The foundation of the center’s innovative approach is the QTscan – an emerging new trend in ultrasound 3D breast imaging that has no radiation, no compression and no injections. QTscan is currently the only true 3D, FDA-cleared breast imaging technology for women as a follow-up to mammography.
“For every one woman with cancer, there are 19 more who will endure the trauma of a false positive,” said Mark Lenox, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer of QT Ultrasound, the privately held technology company that owns and operates QTbreasthealth. “Our QTscan provides reassurance without radiation, particularly for women with dense breasts and implants, as a secondary screen to determine the presence of breast mass types.”
The clear and more complete image delivered by the QTscan makes QTbreasthealth the perfect second opinion for breast imaging and a more detailed image than mammography or handheld ultrasound.
The center opens after QT Ultrasound’s ongoing clinical trials found the transmission ultrasound technology used in the QTscan to be successful in identifying various types of breast tissue, particularly within dense breasts. In 2016, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded the company $16 million in funding, which was used to translate and optimize a pre-clinical prototype into the patient-friendly device QTbreasthealth will now offer in its center.
At $600 per scan, QTbreasthealth provides an affordable breast imaging option for most women in a soothing, comfortable and compassionate setting. Women interested in an appointment can conveniently schedule their visit online at the QTbreasthealth website.
Unlike at other breast imaging centers, a patient will receive results via phone or teleconference with a board-certified physician within just 72 hours. Because the QTscan uses no radiation, the exam is available to adults of all ages and avoids the frequency limits associated with radiation-based imaging tests.
“Women deserve a better breast imaging experience,” Lenox said. “We have transformed what has historically been an uncomfortable experience that resulted in worry and unanswered questions into something pleasant and painless that can alleviate concerns and unfounded fear.”

FDA clearance granted to QT Ultrasound for new breast imaging deviceRead the press release
Novato, CA – June 14, 2017 –
QT Ultrasound LLC has received 510(k) marketing clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market its Transmission Wave Ultrasound breast scanner. The company’s Transmission Ultrasound technology generates high fidelity 360° images of the breast with excellent image clarity. The elimination of radiation and breast compression make the QT scan™ an important additional breast imaging tool for physicians and the women they treat; at this time it is not intended as a replacement for screening mammography.
John Klock, M.D., founder and CEO of QT Ultrasound explains that the company’s recent publications have shown that Transmission Ultrasound technology is especially useful in seeing breast anatomy.
The company has initiated a broad-ranging clinical trial program designed to evaluate whether Transmission Ultrasound technology can (1) aid in the reduction of call-back and false-positive biopsy rates; and (2) replace screening mammography. “Our clinical trials are progressing to help us answer these important questions and learn how this new technology can make a difference in women’s health,” added Dr. Klock.
